Thrift Store
I walked into the thrift store,
What shall I find today?
a couple wooden shelves
and vintage aluminum trays
a couple pieces of clothing,
some designer and some handmade
a t-shirt with old english
font that says, “Renegade”
and a dress that’s in the
style of an anime maid
there were a few things I found with
rips and tears, even a used bandaid
I also found a fancy coat from
London made of leather and suede
I found some pants that were once
black, but had started to turn gray
some tie dye tops that were once vibrant,
but you can tell they’re starting to fade
and an old jean jacket with
its ends beginning to fray
and an old band shirt with a hand holding
a heart that appeared to be a grenade
there was this lady that told me to have a blessed
day, she was wearing her hair up in a French braid
she preached to me so much I wouldn’t have been
surprised if she got down on her knees to pray
and there was this beautiful jewelry
box that was crested with plates of jade
there was an old mask from New Orleans
that must’ve been worn to a masquerade
there were some stains on a recliner
chair, I think it was from marinade
there were some scrubs for
veterinarians and for a nursing aide
something sticky on the floor,
I hope it was from spilled lemonade
there were some quilted blankets and
some placemats that were made by crochet
and a painting done by an unknown
artist of a cloudy sunset landscape
a dented and beat up suitcase
and tons of ugly sweaters
worn at parties on holiday
there were curtains and
a lace window shade
a pair of derby roller skates
and one missing rollerblade
and I found a shirt like
one that I wore in first grade
a molded vase made from porcelain clay
and even a machine with games
from the 90’s given by a closing arcade
