Bubblegum
it happened quickly
and unexpectedly,
no foresight,
out of the blue
stuck on you like gum that's been
stuck to the bottom of a shoe
and when you chew on one
piece, you must have another
chewing more and more,
eventually it loses its flavor
and though there’s not
many left in the pack,
you open your mouth
and let your lips smack
add in another,
and another,
chewing on the glob until
the tongue has little space
beginning to blow a bubble,
I puff my cheeks in my face
I begin to float up, but
the bubble popped and I
came crashing down
from the sky
catch me before I fall,
alas, I am fated my goodbye
as I plummet
into the ground,
I became lost
in a theory,
this gum tastes
a lot like berry,
or perhaps of
a sweet cherry
I continue to chew
in curious thought,
I ran back into the store and
grabbed more packs to be bought
maybe I am in a
parallel universe,
or somewhere in
the upside-down
because if you mix the rainbow
of bubblegum colors together,
they will turn
into brown
