Three Crows

as a murder of crows

surround the deceased

bells ring at a matrimony

and white doves are released

three dead crows dispersed 

by the bushes that line the street

under the trees, where the grass 

meets the sidewalk’s concrete

Was I being led to hope 

by their figurine?

How did this happen 

and what does it mean?

I was guided by my dog 

to walk around the corner

so I straightened up and kept

watch behind my shoulder

I picked up a dandelion next to

a tall and overgrown clover

I'd blown the wisps away 

and wished for this to be over

the death of a black bird symbolizes

new opportunites and change

appreciate yourself and 

the life that you have made

it’s precious and beautiful, 

don’t allow anybody

not even your brain, 

let it be taken away
