Heaven & Hell
we can fly through the clouds like cherubs
and my words will taste sweet of sticky maple syrup
I will gift you my prized possession, a golden scarab
and talk to you for hours on end about traveling to Europe
though I’ve never been, I’d fantasize seeing the Eiffel Tower since my youth
back before I ever had to worry about my growing pains or a wisdom tooth
and before I had to realize what was around me to openly express the truth
feeling like my only purpose in life is having other’s emotional needs to soothe
I could drag you down with our wrists intertwined by handcuffs
mistaken by the light that you thought was the enchantress
when two opposites attract; everyone will misunderstand us
I can’t play your games anymore, I’ve had enough
the ashes of the air gently fall onto your shoulders
while you’re surrounded by an array of falling boulders
feeling claustrophobic as you wait to gather your strongest soldiers
life starts to weigh you down more heavily as you get older
in your childhood, you were as innocent and pure as an angel
you’ve succumbed to the heartbreak, the healing process has been painful
all of the pressure builds up, causing damage to your cranial
your eyes change colors, when you cry they turn to hazel
there’s demons that will try to push you to the edge
while you’re trying to resist the temptation of acting upon your revenge
you break from their grip,
shake their hand,
and peacefully bond the amend
there’s always light through darkness
it’s best to persevere and make
the enemy your friend
