Doberman
I’m the wolf estranged
from the pack,
you take notice to the
distinctive arch in my back
and that my senses are strong
enough to fixate on one’s lies
I can tell that you’re speechless
just by the look in your eyes
I walk stoutly by the side
of my loyal companion
they’ve protected me
my whole life,
their presence I
vow to never abandon
even when others are
fearful and intimidated,
it’s safe to say that dogs have
evolved and became domesticated
we tread proudly together,
with ears docked and pointed high
if you pose as a threat to
our beloved, we will fortify
the invective names we
reject and remain dignified
because we are truly gentle
inside and actually quite shy
