How come only the good die young?

we’re intimidated by those who speak with a sharp tongue

as if they’re more intelligent and better at living

really, it doesn’t take a certain person to be willing

Marilyn Monroe in her years as a starlet

the aspiring blonde shined brightly through her darkness

an accomplice to narcotics and her profile on screen

the public failed her because they treated her so mean

the rise to fame led her into the fall of depression

we couldn’t see through her mystery, so there awaited her confession

Could it be that her story was tragic?

under the fashion and the mania, 

was a fragile little girl

hair shiny and platinum with its ends in a curl

some want everything, some don’t want anything,

but to hear one sing is truly something amazing
