The Redbud Tree

I used to think that redbuds 

were just cherry blossom trees

after all, they have baby pink 

flowers and other similarities

there's this one that grows on the 

corner of Gilmore and Florida Avenue

it's a beacon of beauty that

stands as tall as a grand statue

settled between some potholes and palms 

blooms the redbud tree of cherry bombs

there's a time of renewal before 

the blossoms come to drop,

the spring will come again, 

so will the ride at the bus stop
