First Aid Kit
I’m stumbling into
the next stage of grief,
this process makes me
realize more each day
one of the biggest
lessons I’ve learned,
you need to make time
for your loved ones
their friendship
you must earn,
and make sure they
know you care for them
we’ve all been
going through it,
not too late to ask,
"How have you been?"
even if you don’t see
any fresh wounds,
we all need a
first aid kit
they may need a simple
bandaid, or someone who
can thread their stitches
never forget that
they're still existing,
you were on my
mind everyday,
the thought only grew
when we were astray
and now it’s too late
to see you again,
time wasn’t on
my side back then
I try not to hold
so much regret,
reminiscing on the days
we were best friends
grieving leads to
unbearable
pain and weeping
the repressed thoughts
about the how and
why of everything,
I'm infinitely
overthinking
never become too caught
up in your own world
and forget that you also
live apart of theirs
two birds of a feather,
your souls are shared
tomorrow is
not guaranteed
while you're away, your
friend might bleed
the agony they’re
going through
Where is your presence
when they need you most?
